Carpet, Rug & Upholstery Health Study
Independently tested. Hospital-grade standards.
Our Hot Carbonating Extraction (HCE) process has been independently tested against the most common household contaminants that affect indoor air quality. Here is what we measured, how we measured it, and what it means for the health of your home.
What we tested
Common allergens
Dust mite antigen, cat dander, dog dander and pollen — the leading triggers of household allergy and asthma symptoms.
Airborne bacteria
Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli — two of the most common bacteria found on carpet and soft furnishings.
Indoor air quality
Side-by-side comparison of HCE versus traditional steam cleaning on standardised carpet samples.
How we tested
In a controlled, third-party microbiology lab, standardised carpet samples were inoculated with known concentrations of common allergens and bacteria. The same samples were cleaned using our HCE process — and in parallel, the same soils were cleaned using a leading steam-cleaning method.
98%
of common household allergens removed
89%
of airborne bacteria reduced
What it means for your home
A professional clean does not just lift visible dirt — it actively removes the allergens, bacteria and grime that affect the air your family breathes every day. Fewer allergy triggers, a fresher-smelling home, and peace of mind.
The Natural® contains no soaps, detergents, phosphates or harsh chemicals — making it safe for children, pets and allergy-sensitive households.

How allergens and bacteria affect your home
Carpets and soft furnishings trap a surprising amount of what floats around your home. Knowing what is hiding in the fibres helps explain why a regular professional clean matters more than a quick vacuum.
Allergens
Dust mite antigen, pet dander and pollen are the most common indoor allergy triggers. They settle deep into carpet and upholstery fibres and become airborne again every time someone walks across the room. For households with asthma, eczema or hay fever, this constant re-exposure can make everyday living uncomfortable.
Bacteria
Bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli are commonly transferred onto soft surfaces from shoes, hands, pets and food. They are not always dangerous in a home setting, but they can cause smells, surface staining and avoidable exposure for young children who play on the floor.
Volatile residue
Soapy residue left behind by traditional steam cleaning stays in the carpet and acts like a magnet for new soil. That is why carpets cleaned with hot water extraction often look dirty again within weeks. HCE leaves no sticky residue, so the carpet stays cleaner for longer.
Indoor humidity
Steam cleaning saturates carpet with water. If the carpet does not dry thoroughly, that moisture can encourage mould growth, musty odours and bacterial regrowth. Because HCE uses about 80% less water, carpets dry in 1–2 hours instead of 1–2 days.
How often should you clean for a healthier home?
Most carpet manufacturers recommend a professional deep clean every 6 to 12 months. If anyone in your home suffers from allergies, asthma or eczema, every 6 months is usually the safer baseline. Regular cleaning also extends the life of your carpet and keeps warranty conditions intact.
- Every 6 months — allergy, asthma or eczema sufferers; homes with pets; households with young children
- Every 12 months — standard family homes without specific sensitivities
- Immediately — after water damage, illness in the home, renovation dust, or a persistent odour
